Explanation of Results.

  1.  Although, the questionnaire would have been much more fair if we had asked and equal amount of people from both genders, we found that overall we had asked slightly more females as we did males which was mainly down to the people that were we surrounded by when we handed out the questionnaire to be filled in
  2. By looking at the questionnaire results we can see that the majority of the people that answered the questions were aged between 15 and 17 which is practical as we would have liked to give our film trailer a 15 certificate.
  3. By asking the audience what they would expect to see in a Thriller film, the majority of them answered that they would enjoy the topic of death being involved and so our group are then able to create the story line to incorporate some sort of tragic accident or scenes. This would help us as we would know what the audience would want to see and so we would know that they would enjoy the film trailer.
  4. I thing that the most important question that we could have asked the audience is what they think the best film title is. This is because we think that it important for the title to appeal to the particular target audience. The audience would also be one of the first things that the audience would see on the film poster and so we would have to make sure that the title is eye catching for the viewer to notice it quickly. From looking at the results we can see that the title that most of the audience liked was 'Elle' which is quite popular as many films are named after a characters name.
  5. We found that most of the people who had completed the questionnaire state that they would prefer for a thriller film to be set in both a home and an urban setting. This allows us to maybe adapt our film and so we are able to incorporate both settings in the trailer to give it depth but also engage the audience more effectively.
  6. From the questionnaire, we found that the most popular choice of music was the up paced and low pitch music. This would be helpful to us as we are able to pick the right sounds in order to create tension but excitement for the target audience. This would then help us decide whether to do the sounds as diegetic or non-diegetic as we would want it to be the most effective.
  7. In our final question on the questionnaire we found that there was an equal balance of whether we should have an antagonist and a victim in our final product and so we could have either one or even both to make the film trailer as interesting as possible.

Questionaire

This is the questionnaire for our film to give us a better idea of what we should include in our thriller type film. the use of the questions about Gender and Age was to help us understand the target audience e for this type of film. Also it will become easier when understanding how to angle the trailer to the audience.

We then wanted to know the audiences expectations of a thriller would be in order to see if we met these expectations. From research of these types of films, these were the three main themes that were presented.

We then asked for what the audience thought was the best name so that we had more opinions and could make it perfect. The rest of the questions were direct towards the conventions of the film to help us.

Costume Reaserch

Here is a shot of all of our actors and the costumes that we have decided to use. The father figure in this family, is wearing a casual jumper with a shirt underneath showing his relaxed format however her had some sophisticated style. the outfit isn't specifically very smart however you can tell he takes care of his appearance. he is also wearing fairly dull trousers that shows he is conforming to the stereotype of a father.

The daughter is wearing a school uniform as we believe it will make the audience understand the innocence and vulnerability. it will also allow the audience to connect with the character  as most primary schools have similar uniforms and makes the family seem ordinary and conventional.
The mother is wearing quite a modern and contemporary outfit as she is attempting to give across a more youthful look. this makes the audience like the character.

Day 2 of filming

DAY 1/2 OF FILMING
This is a short film to show the first day of filming and some of the behind the scenes funny moments.
first of all we decided to do some establishing shots in the garden as we were aware of timing and in the winter it gets dark very quickly. before the actors came to the location, we finalized all of the shots of the family so that we were organised and we were able to get the filming done quikely. We also made sure any of the shots that didn't involve the characters were done before they arrived to save time. We were also aware of the age of our actress, Serafina and were concious of her staying up too late.

To make sure every shot was suitable we did two takes of every shot. this allowed us to decide on the best ones when i comes to editing. we also allowed a couple of seconds before and after the shots whilst filming so that we had room to cut in tot he takes.

Actor interview

Actor interview

This is Caroline Rowe's interview. We believed it would help us to understand the characters bit better an know them better as actors on a more personal level. From this it is evident why we have picked her as our mother figure as she is calm, relaxed and loving woman who creates an excellent protagonist.
