Poster

This poster has a very innocent and naive feel to it. The young girl on the poster has long wavy hair that flows infant of her face. The angle of her hair that flows directs the audience’s eye to the left hand side of the picture. It also follows the light; also the light catches the colour of her hair and creates a very innocent and clear colour that highlights the colour of the background as it’s extremely dull and dirty. She also has extremely blue oceanic coloured eyes that are very captivating and draw the eye in to her. Her skin is also extremely pale and pure and creates the typical 'English Rose' look.

There is a light reflecting on to her face front the left portraying her innocent and beauty however on the right hand side, it is dark and haunting. This represents that there is danger ahead of her and that it is shadowing her.
The title is written in a golden colour and looks a little rough round the edges. This connotes the rocky journey, the characters journey through in the film. The slogan above the title highlights the main themes of the film- "Fight. Dream. Hope. Love" these words are extremely powerful and thought provoking so that the audience have some themes to think about while viewing the girl.

The film was first a Broadway musical and therefore the success from this is highlighted at the bottom of the poster- "The Musical Phenomenon" the producer obviously is proud of this and therefore wants to post it on the front cover so everyone can see it. Also lots have people have seen the musical and the specific musical group would be intrigued to how the film has changed to the stage show,

Poster

127 Hours

This poster is extremely symbolic and meaningful- The top of the image is an oceanic blue sky that fades in to white towards the centre where the man is stuck between the two rocks. The bottom of the image has a sunset sky white reds, oranges and yellows. These two sets of colours contrast each other drawing the eye of the audience to the centre.
I think that it also symbolises that above his is peace and happiness and if he were to fall it would be dangerous like falling in to fire. The rock that is placed between the two cliffs is so delicate and carefully balanced which creates a naturally perfect image. Another dominant colour that we notice from the poster in the fiery red that connotes danger and perhaps even death.

The suggested diagonal lines coming from each corner of the image, draws the audience’s attention towards the centre of the image. This tells the audience that he is the main character and that maybe the reason there is nobody else in the picture is that he is quite lonely and perhaps goes on the experience on his own.

Along the top of the poster there is the quote:
"A Triumphant True Story" - Films that have a true story instantly have a massive selling point especially with an older audience. It shows that the film has a link to the real world however it also allows the audience to feel more connected to the characters and can feel more empathy towards the storyline.

The title of the film doesn't give anything away about the story of what happens however it will keep the audience exited and engaged towards the content on the film. The text of the title is bold and has a very simple font to symbolise the importance of the time. Around the man in the centre there is a white halo surrounding him, this shows his innocence and naivety.

Poster

The Notebook

The colour around the edge of the couple is a dark blue that is very calm and naturalistic, however just around the perimeter of the couple there is a white highlight, and this represents the innocent nature of the couple and the relationship. The woman is also wearing a blue dress which symbolises peace and tranquillity and perhaps beauty and elegance.
They hold a very romantic pose as the male character is lifting the woman in the air about to kiss her. She has her hand around his face which is very intimate and passionate.
The picture is taken in the pouring Raina ND both characters are extremely wet. This gives the audience the impression that they may have been apart for a while and are reuniting, perhaps it’s a new found love or maybe they are just proclaiming their love for each there. Other way it is extremely beautiful and romantic.

The Title of the film in no particularly bold or eye-catching however the font relates to the name of the film. The title is written in a usual text like font with a flick on the end of the 'k'. It is extremely subtle but portrays the delicate nature of a notebook. The name 'The Notebook' may relate the couple and how either one of the characters kept a notebook to write down the feeling towards the other lover.

As the film features some very big names in the film industry, they are written just below the centre of the poster to remind the audience of the actors involved. However they are in a very small font which one can only presume because it would distract the attention from the couple in the centre.
At the very top of the poster is the quote "Behind Every Great Love, Is A Great Story" - This also relates the title as it implies that they had a beautiful love story and it is all recorded in a notebook. From the quality of the picture and the use of the notebook, shows that the film is quite old fashioned which may appeal to an older audience.

From this film poster I can infer that the target audience for this film is females between the ages of 16 and 30. This is because the female on the poster is between these ages and can therefore the audience may relate to what she is going through. The male is also attractive which can entice the audience. The poster is also feminine due to the use of colour and the text is thin which makes it more appealing to females.

As Refection

The film I created last year in my AS level film i think I tried to show off all of my techniques and did not necessarily use simplistic approaches. I am a strong believer of 'Less is More' and therefore this year i believe I'm going to focus of perfection and not trying to boost my grade with little techniques that may make it look messy.

The weather when filming was extremely cold which meant we wanted to get the filming over and done with as soon as possible also affecting the quality of work.  I think that if I enjoyed the experience a lot more the quality would have been better. Whilst filming I seemed to get bored incredibly easily which meant I gave up a lot easier and not aiming for excellence. I think this was also due to the choices of locations. Quite a few times I had to suddenly re-organize my plans for filming due to the weather and lighting, if I checked the weather before maybe this would have helped. one of the days when I went out filming I realised that I'd been filming for over an hour and it was around 6:00am which therefore mean that the sun was starting to go down. Therefore the first shots were lighter than the later ones. this meant that i had to go out another day to receive the same lighting.
Also this year I am going to form a group to do the project which i believe will be less stressful and we can  help each other out with post and idea's. Also the filming process will be easier as the company will make the experience less boring and more exiting.

Magasine cover

Bazaar

The use of the hot pink for some of the titles and banners creates a very brightly and girly cover. The colour stands out against the cool colours sued on the face of Taylor Swift. In this pink colour is says- “The Bag and Shoe for 2013” this highlights the feminism for this type of magazine and the target audience. The magazine is suggesting that the audience would like the idea of fashion and the latest trends. Also the fact that it is written in Pink suggest that the editor wants it to be seen as it has high importance.

The main feature of the magazine is Taylor Swift; she is a very famous contemporary singer who has a very large fan base. Therefore she has been put off the front of the cover, very large to grab the audience’s attention.

The advertisements around the edge frame her face to highlight where the audiences eyes are supposed to draw in to. The editor has used special techniques to make Taylors eyes bluer and have an innocent and picturesque effect.

The latest craze at the moment for young female adults it healthy eating and physical appearances, therefore one of the key points on the front of the cover is- "9-day Wonder Diet". this would a appeal to a large feminine audience and therefore will encourage people to read the magazine.

Magazine cover

Vogue Magazine

This vogue magazine features the very famous Lady Gaga, although she has a very large fan base, she also has a very large group of people who dislike her for her unique qualities. She is very abstract as the audience can see in the cover picture, her short pink bob is very contravention and can be loved or hated. The pink is also reflected in some of the writing around her on the cover. An example of this is her name “LADY GAGA” This stands out and gives her a unique and vibrant look. The other writing that’s in this electric pink colour is “574 pages” highlighting to the audience that they have got a lot for their money and there is a lot of content inside.

As vogue is a very successful magazine for its interesting and high class look, the content and imagery has to be very unique and to a high standard for their intended audience. The target audience for the magazine would be teens to young adults (16-25) therefore the latest gossip and celebrity news is incorporated to the cover.

The clothes that Lady Gaga is wearing has a mixture of beiges and creams, it looks like a tunic from the Grecian times which gives her a sophisticated and cultural look. However this is contrasted by the bright pink and purple from her lipstick. This captures the audience’s attention. The mint green background compliments the pink and creates a pastel tone to the cover which was a very big fashion craze of this time.

There is a news story on the bottom of the magazine cover the states- "STARVED OF LOVE- The mothers and daughters battle with food demons"- In today’s modern society, people are extremely nosy and interested in story of people who are suffering. Therefore the vogue are making the audience want to read on and know more about this story. Also if other people are facing similar issues the can read on and see what they can do to help the situation. The use of the word 'Demons' is to create the idea that they are being possessed in real life that links to the common horror genre those appeals to teens. Also the words- "STARVED FOR LOVE" is in caps lock and is also in the same vibrant pink colour therefore creating a statement to capture the eye of the reader. It represents that love is such a powerful thing and therefore people are willing to die to keep it,

Magazine cover

Entrepreneur

This magazine is clearly aimed for a specific audience, the line written at the top of the cover says: "10 things you MUST know about business" This first off lets the audience know what the content of the magazine will contain.
This imperative is very demanding and therefore makes the reader feel it has some trusted and important inside.

The word's "MAKE MONEY" is in a bold black font with the attention to stand out. This is used because all business men are looking to make more money and therefore they are trying to target then high achieving audience.
The use of the pale blue colour for the title, gives a calm effect to compliment the black and white colours. The colour scheme is also very calm and relaxed and therefore doesn't make a huge statement on the shelf.

The character on the cover is a middle aged man with crossed arms and a very large smile on his face; he gives the cover a positive and helpful look as he looks friendly and successful.
There is a slight shadow around him showing its more of a casual picture and therefore gives the same atmosphere to the rest of the magazine.

There aren't any adverts or commercials, therefore creating an uncluttered and sophisticated cover. As the target audience is for men, it creates a clean cut image to suit men with taste.
