Poster

127 Hours

This poster is extremely symbolic and meaningful- The top of the image is an oceanic blue sky that fades in to white towards the centre where the man is stuck between the two rocks. The bottom of the image has a sunset sky white reds, oranges and yellows. These two sets of colours contrast each other drawing the eye of the audience to the centre.
I think that it also symbolises that above his is peace and happiness and if he were to fall it would be dangerous like falling in to fire. The rock that is placed between the two cliffs is so delicate and carefully balanced which creates a naturally perfect image. Another dominant colour that we notice from the poster in the fiery red that connotes danger and perhaps even death.

The suggested diagonal lines coming from each corner of the image, draws the audience’s attention towards the centre of the image. This tells the audience that he is the main character and that maybe the reason there is nobody else in the picture is that he is quite lonely and perhaps goes on the experience on his own.

Along the top of the poster there is the quote:
"A Triumphant True Story" - Films that have a true story instantly have a massive selling point especially with an older audience. It shows that the film has a link to the real world however it also allows the audience to feel more connected to the characters and can feel more empathy towards the storyline.

The title of the film doesn't give anything away about the story of what happens however it will keep the audience exited and engaged towards the content on the film. The text of the title is bold and has a very simple font to symbolise the importance of the time. Around the man in the centre there is a white halo surrounding him, this shows his innocence and naivety.
